A meditation mala—also called a japa mala—is a string of 108 beads used for:

🔄 How to Use a Mala
-
Hold the mala in your dominant hand, draped over your middle or ring finger
-
Begin with the bead next to the guru bead (do not count the guru bead)
-
Recite your mantra or focus on your breath with each bead
-
Move to the next bead using your thumb

Complete a full round of 108 repetitions
-
To continue, reverse direction—never cross over the guru bead
